Movie Analysis: The Gods must be crazy

Cast: Nǃxau, Marius Weyers, Sandra Prinsloo, Louw Verwey and Michael Thys
Director: Jamie Uys
Synopsis: It was about the journey of Xi, a tribesman of the Kalahari Desert, who thought that the coca cola bottle was an evil thing and decided to throw it at the “edge” of the Earth, not knowing the world beyond their desert.

The movie, The Gods must be crazy, according to my understanding, has 3 separate stories that was combined into one later in the movie. First, Xi and his fellow tribesmen of the Kalahari Desert had discovered jealousy, anger, violence and even the concept of ownership or possessions due to the bottle that fell from “heaven”. I found this scene a little funny and amusing because in our perception we would find it a little stupid. I didn’t mean it as an offensive comment. The movie also shows the culture of Africa, in general. There are 2 set of culture they have and it was based on the advancement of technology. We can see the difference of both culture and we are able to find information about the Sho in the Kalahari Desert. In my opinion, if you want to get information about South African tribes, I would recommend this movie.
